Tooth-coloured composite, matched to the shade of the tooth beside it. Usually one visit.

Composite is bonded to the tooth rather than wedged into it, so less sound tooth has to be cut away than for the silver fillings many people still have. The shade is matched to the tooth next to it before we start, in daylight where we can.
One visit, usually under an hour. The tooth may be sensitive to cold for a week or two afterwards; that settles and does not mean anything has gone wrong.
A filling is not forever. A well-placed one in a mouth that is looked after should give you ten years or more, and we will tell you honestly when a tooth has had its last one and needs a crown instead.
